Michael and Simone met in Spring of 2014 at Coastal Carolina Univeristy. Michael had a class with one of Simone's roomates and would periodically come to her dorm room. During their Fall 2015 semester, they accepted Resident Advisor positions at Coastal Carolina. Simone was a little out of her element and Michael was the only person she knew in the program. They became close and started dating on September 8th.
